Welcome to the internet home of Group VI Headquarters, Texas Wing, Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol, or CAP, is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. Nationwide, CAP handles 85 percent of inland search and rescue missions for the 1st Air Force's Rescue Coordination Center at Tyndall AFB. Our members are often the first on the scene transmitting satellite digital images of the damage within seconds around the world and providing disaster relief and emergency services following natural disasters, including Hurricane Katrina and the recent extensive Texas wildfires.
In addition, Group VI CAP members are dedicated to supporting counterdrug reconnaissance missions and teaching a new generation of Texans about aerospace and its impact on our future. And our cadet programs provide excellent opportunities for leadership training.
Unlike our founding CAP members from WWII, many of whom flew their own airplanes and performed life- threatening missions without any formal training, our Group VI 300-plus members are now provided with top- notch, year-round professional development training opportunities and with five aircraft equipped with the most advanced technologies available for search and rescue.
Group VI is the command authority for the nine CAP squadrons located in Denton, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Tarrant, Taylor, Wichita and several adjacent counties of Texas. I invite you to navigate the pages of our site and learn more about who we are, and what we do for our communities, state and nation.
